Detectives from the Nairobi Region’s Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, together with officers from Imbirikani Police Station in Kajiado County, have recovered a high-end, unregistered Mercedes-Benz GLK350d that had gone missing from a garage in Spring Valley.
In a statement issued on February 4, 2026, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the luxury vehicle had been booked for a paint job on January 30, 2026, but was later reported missing, along with the watchman on duty.
“His mobile phone was switched off, raising immediate red flags and triggering the circulation of the vehicle as stolen,” the DCI said.
Police forensic analysis later tracked the vehicle along Mombasa Road, prompting officers to give chase.
“A hot pursuit ensued, ending at a police roadblock mounted by Imbirikani officers in Kajiado South Sub-County,” the statement added.
Cornered at the roadblock, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled into nearby thickets, escaping towards Oltiasika and Nosilale villages.
A closer inspection confirmed the car matched the description of the stolen vehicle, though it had been tampered with. Investigators found a fake front registration plate—KDR 003N—had been fitted to evade detection.
The vehicle has since been seized and escorted back to Nairobi, as investigators continue to pursue the suspects with the aim of bringing them to justice.
